It seems to creep up on us every year, and with our busy daily lives it’s hard to find the extra time to file our taxes – a task that can sometimes feel daunting.
As a father, Member of Parliament and Parliamentary Secretary, I know how difficult it can be to juggle competing priorities while still trying to fit in quality time with my family. This year, let us help alleviate some of the pressure that comes with tax season.
Our office will be hosting tax clinics here in the community of Parkdale-High Park to help low-income families and individuals. Our government is committed to helping the middle class, and those working hard to join it.
Through programs such as the new tax-free Canada Child Benefit (CCB), the middle class tax cut, and local tax clinics, we are delivering on our commitment to help improve Canadians’ everyday lives.
In order to receive these benefits, families must file their 2016 taxes with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
Please remember: the deadline to submit your 2016 tax return is April 30, 2017.
Who qualifies to have their taxes prepared at the clinic?
- Single Canadians with incomes below $30,000
- Couples with incomes below $40,000
- Adults with a dependant with an income below $35,000 – with an additional $2,500 added for each additional dependant
If you would like to know if you qualify for these services, please contact our community office to book an appointment.
