Today marks the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, and I want to wish a blessed Ramadan to all Muslim Canadians. Ramadan is characterized by empathy, discipline, compassion, and charity.
During this month of fasting, prayer, and spiritual reflection and especially during this 150th year since Canada’s Confederation, we are reminded of the ways our vibrant Muslim Canadian community helps to enrich our national fabric each and every day.
As a Muslim Member of Parliament, and the Parliamentary Secretary for Multiculturalism, I am proud to be able to share some of my own faith and experience to those in our community in Parkdale-High Park, and those in our country, who share the view that an inclusive, tolerant and diverse Canada, is a stronger Canada.
To all Muslim Canadians in Parkdale-High Park, and across the country, Ramadan Kareem.
